SCENIC RESERVES BOARD.

The ÜBual quarterly meeting of the .board was held at the local lands office yesterday, there being present: Messrs G. H. Billiard (in the chair), W. A. Collis and K. J. W. Davies. Mr. Percy-Smith and Dr. Leatham for -unavoidable absence.

•Correspondence was read from tlic Under-Secretary for Lands, Wellington, as.follows:—Advising authority of £4O for expenditure during the current year on the upkeep of the six reserves (175) acres under the control of the Board; advising that the question of altering the condition in the standard form of leases granted by the Board re noxious weeds was now before the Crown Law Office for advice, etc. "Meeting of the Waters" Reserve: The' chairman (reported the result of the recent visit of inspection to this' reserve. Authority was granted for the expendiure of an amount for rehabilitating some of the fences, the arrangements being loft in the Lands of the chairman and the honorary caretaker (Mr. Hy, King) on the ground.

Pukerangiora Pa Reserve: It was de-. cided owing to the lateness of the'season not to proceed this year with the plantign of Karaka trees on a small area of this reserve used by picnic- parties, the matter to be brought up at some future time. ,

Ratapihipihi Reserve: It was resolved' " on tiie motion of Mr. Collis,- seconded by the chairman, to spend up to £ 10 cutting walks through this reserve to give visitors access to various parts of the reserve, .the arrangements re labor being left in the hands of Mr. Davies. An ex-, penditure up to £1 10s was also authorised for grass cutting on the. flats in order to prevent grass choking the young wattle trees planted by the Board. It was decided to procure a supply of 20 concrete posts to be used as required in completing the fencing lines on the reserve when required.

'Pukcti Pa Reserve:.Mr. Collis reported that the gorse on this reserve hag' been cleared by the Borough Council, and that the ground was almost ready for the plough in the parts required. Accounts:—Small accounts up to £4 2s were certified for payment on the motion of the chairman.
