BATTLE OF THE ANfJRE.v The National Government of New Zea. land has lately received from the British War Office an official film record of the , Battle of the Ancre. The picture wan taken by the operator* of the British and Allied Governments in a zone where no other operators were permitted. ' It was in this great battle, the f)r*t in the big push instituted by the Allies on th« Western front, in Septetttbtf of last year that the notorious tanks were first introduced, and these mechanical monsters are clearly shown as they nfike theii entry into the conflict. The- Dominior. Government has entrusted the screening of these pictures to the national committee of tho Y.M.C.A.. with the stipulation that all nett proceeds are to ht devoted to funds for patriotic purposes. In keeping with this instruction, the monies are equally spread over the funds to provide treiwh' comforts, through the Y.M.C.A. war fund, while the Minister of Internal Affairs takes a portion for the benefit ot the returned men at present in New Zea. land hospitals. Twenty-five per ' cent, will also be paid to the local Mayor to uso at hia discretion fOT Bed Cross purposes. "The Battle of the Ancre," which is the first of a series of official films to be secured by the Governments will be screened at Everybody's Theatre next, Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon and evenings.
