BOWLING.
A patriotic tournament occupied the attention of Hawera bowlers on Monday. Sixteen rinks wm engaged, wind live games of twelve heads each were played. The day was anything but pleasant, a strong wind blowing, and rain set in just before the finish of play. The rinks skipped by A. Robertson, R. Tait, Adam/on. Grant and Ilenson tied with three wins and two losses each, but it is not likely that there will be a play-off.
The first buttons match of the season was playerl on Saturday, the holders (Goodwin, Burrell, Grant and Kollard) defeating Graham, Corkill, AV. Robertson and llenson by 22 points to IS. . The New Plymouth and Fitzroy greens are at present open on Tljuesday and Saturday afternoons only,
