DEPARTURE FOR CAMP. The first draft of New Plymouth men for the CI special training camp left .yesterday morning by the mail train. Tea. and refreshments were .provided at the women's patriotic rooms by the 1 ladies of the committee at 8.45 and each man was the recipient of a useful hold-all and cigarettes. The Patriotic Committer was well represented ,fit'the station, and there was a mod|nrof(e gathering of relatives and friends to'fare well'the men. Burgess) briefly addressed the men, 'and said ..that, when he farewelled the New Plymouth draft of the 35th Reinforcements lie had not thought of saying good-bye to a fijjrther draft in a little over a week's time. Those of the men who were found fit to go on active service would have the satisfaction of joining their comrades in the greatest fight the world has ever seen. Those of them for wlhiom the training and the camp life proved top arduous would later return ; to their homes satisfied with the knowledge that they had done their best and that it was through no fault of theirs that . they were unable to join in yvitli their comrades.
