NBW PLYMOUTH'S FIXE Ri&l'O^Sß. In every part of the British Dominions one day of last week was observed as a special appeal day for funds .in aid of tlio British Red Cross Society. The "Our Day" appeal in New Plymouth was tttde on Saturday last, with splendid results. The day was perfect, and, the streets ww busy morning and afternoon. The country people who were in town gave freely. Last year "Our Day" brought in £5,40 odd, and this year'* conaaittaa Bet out to raise not less than £6OO, ft rather ambitious aim in view ot the appeal on October IS in Wellington realising only about £IOOO. The generosity of the people of New Plymouth had, however, been under-rated, a» the day's takings reached the splendid total of £71)1, the whole of which will be forwarded to the headquarters of the British Red Cross. Burgess), under police supervision, and resulted as follows: First prize, hand-made collar, donated by Mrs. Hooper; Mr. Ken. Webster, Palmcrston North, ticket No.' 413. Second prize, hand-knitted quilt, donated by Mrs. Hall: Miss O. JSUwkay, ticket No. 340. Third prize, brief bag, donated, fy Mr. Wells: Graham Foofces, ticket No. 180.
