O'Shea's record last season was: 306 mounts. 09 firsts, .10 seconds, and 34 thirds. O'Shea rode the winners of five cups, and did the "bat trick" twice. Taranaki entries at Avondale includes Toatere. Lady Beaufort, Flying Camp, Golden Grafton, Simple Sam, King Chiara, Glenroy, Astor, Avon Park and Collector. Demagogue, another of the Demosthenes breed, will he watched with interest by an army of backers in the Taita Handicap at Trentham. Before leaving home Adjutant ran ten furlongs in 2.12, which was a rattling good trial for a Wellington Handicap horse. Mr. fi. Civrrie's Enslish-brcd filly 'Pen. non shaped well in the Electric at Masterton. She is not nearly ready yet, but looks like turning out a top-holer. Torchlight is reported to have been sold to a Gisbnrne sportsman. He was the light that failed, anyhow.
