ACCIDENTS & FATALITIES.
MASTERTON MOTOR FATALITY. By Telegraph.—'Press Association. Masterton, Oct. 18. The party left Masterton a little after eight o'clock. It consisted of Laing, James O'Connor and his daughter. After twelve miles liad been covered and when approaching the Kahumingi Bridge, something went wrong and the ear crashed over the side of the' bridge, falling a distance of about -20 feet into the river. The occupants were pinned underneath, but Laing managed to free himself. Assistance was obtained, but when the car was removed off O'Connor find his daughter it was found that they were dead. i FATAL BURNING ACCIDENT. Wellington, Oot. 18. Miss Charlotte Grant, aged -60, who was severely burned in the hands, arms and chest last week through the newspaper she was reading taking fire and causing her clothes to ignite, died this morning. MINING ACCIDENT. , Waihi, Oct. IS; A miner named Jolm M'Pherson was iklled at the Waihi mine. A round of holes had been fired, after which M'Pherson returned and barred down loose stones, A large piece came away unexpectedly, striking him on the head and killing him instantly. He leaves a wife and six children. . CHILD CHOKED BY BANANA. , ! Auckland, Yesterday. The eighteen-months-old child of Daniel Sellars, a member of the 2S)th Reinforcements, died to-day as the result of choking by a banana.
