A meeting of the Taranaki District Committee was held on Tuesday evening. Present: L. A, Nolan (chairman), W. P. Nicoll, 0. W. Sole, F. Orbell, N. King, D. J. Hughes, B. H. Chaney, J. Grey, W. Hookham, E. F. Blundell. Apologies were received from Messrs S. Pitt and W. C. Weston. The Opunake Racing Club's programme for March 18, 1018, was returned foi slight amendment. The following licenses were granted: Trainers'. J. F. T. Wade; jockeys', 0 Cox, P. McGuire, K. McDonald, and D. Stockman; gentlemen riders', W. and E. Oliver. Two accidents clauses will be forwarded to the trustees for consideration. The Stratford Racing Club notified the appointment of Mr. W. J. Morrison as its representative on the district committee. It was resolevd to forward a letter of sympathy to the widow of the late Mr. YV. C. Dudley, chairman of the Opunake Racing Club. TARANAKI JOCKEY CLUB, A meeting of the Taranaki Jockey Club was also held, -tlie same gentlemen being present, with the exception of Mr. Grey. Arrangements for catering and other matters in connection with the Christmas meeting were put in hand. It was decided to make several alterations to the club's property in view of the forthcoming meeting. Accounts amounting to £BO 18s 3d were passed for payment.
