The famous Royal actress. Betty'Nansen. will be featured at Everybody's to night in a William Fox' production entiled "The Song of Hate," adapted from the heart-stirring stage success. "La Tosca." Miss Nansen needs no introduction to local picture goers as she will be remembered for her powerful portrayals in previous Fox features. The story of love and hate that filled the tragic' Ufa of "La Tosca" will also be familiar to the majority of picture patrons and provides one of the most grippingly interesting motion pictures that have been released this year. There is ,a fine supporting programme, including one of the now famous Fo.v comedies. "His Love Fight." a humorous Keystone comedy, the Gaumont Graphic and a good industrial film of "Russian Industries." COMING SATURDAY. Commencing at the matinee Saturday Alice Brady will be featured in the powerful World Film masterfilm, "The Angel of Mercy." The splendid double programme including "The Sealed Vallev" (Metro) and "Hinton's Double" (Gold Rooster) will be screened for the last time at the Empire to-isight. The two big piotures make a delightful.combination, the first beintr a big, breezy, out-of-doors story, with some exceptionally attractive views of river and forest in the northernmost corner of Canada. There is plenty of excitement in the lons journeys the principal characters take by river in this well-nigh timpassable country. The shooting of the rapids is most interesting and calls for both nerve and skill on the part of the actors. There is a dainty love story which works well into a closely connected plot. "Hinton's Double" is an entirely different style of picture, the plot being set amidst eitv surroundings and the world of high finance. The story is full of dramatic surprise and strong and convincing. TO-MORROW. To-morrow the popular pair of stars, Harold Lockwood and May Allison wih. be featured in a fine Metro picture, "Big Tremaine.'' from the novel of the same name. This programme will also include the second episode of the fascinating and exciting serial picture, "The Secret of the Submarine."
