Evidence at the inquiry in connection with the recent lire on a steamer lying at Miller's Point indicated incendiarism. When Harold Batten, formerly employed by the Union Company, appeared in court, charged with forging a Beaman's discharge certificate, the police I stated that a quantity of gelignite, dyna- | mite, and detonator fuses, and corre- | spondence relating to explosions on ships, I were found in hia possession.
