RESERVISTS' APPEALS.

HAWERA SITTING. The First Wellington Military Service Board continued its sitting at Hawera on Wednesday afternoon. The appeal of Mrs. McVinnie on behalf of Thomas Bamlet McVinnie, farmer, Manaia, previously before the board, an adjourned appeal, was further considered. Evidence was given by Mr. W. D. Powdrell, lessor of the farm, that he was willing to do all he could to assist the lessee (Mrs. McVinnie), The appellant's son was doing the work of two men on the farm. The family were very Industrious, and worked the farm very well indeed. The board reserved its decision. 1 John Matthew Charlton, dairy farmer, Waverley, whose appeal had been adjourned, said that he had now arranged to lease his farm. Leave until November would suit. The appeal was dismissed, and the appellant was granted leave until November 13. The adjourned sine die appeal of Henry Rayford Greening, shepherd, Waitotara. was reconsidered. The appellant, who had heen reclassified CI, gave evidence that he had entered into a shearing contract, ■and said that he would like leave until the January draft. The appeal was dismissed, and the .appellant was granted leave until January 8. The appellant has to enter the CI camp. The appeal of Henry Walter Harrison, dairy farmer. Hawera. an adjourned case from the previous sitting, was further considered. Appellant desired extension of time till the end of December. The apjjeal was dismissed and leavt> granted until January 8. William Henry Harting, faim hand, Waitotara, appealed on the grounds of undue hardship, and that he was of German parentage. ' The, appellant said that his father and mother were born in Germany, and had been naturalised British subjects for about 23 years. Appellant was born in New Zealand. He was quite willing to fight. The chairman: On whose side. Tho appellant: The British. I had one brother in camp, but he was dls. charged. The chairman said that the appellant's case would be referred to the Defence authorities. In the meantime the appeal would be adjourned. The Board gave its decision in the following cases: James Bolger, Mangat.oki. appeal dismissed and leave granted until December ■l2. Edward Patrick Callaghan, Ngaere: the decision of August 20 is "cancelled', and adjourns the appeal sine die and grants the appellant suspension from military service in the meantime, provided lie reports to the group commander monthly.

Edward Thomas, Okaiawa, adjourned to enable the case to be referred to the Efficiency Trustees.
