SOCIAL NEWS PERSONAL ITEMS. Miss McLeod. who as been on a lengthy visit to New Plymouth, where she was the guest of her aunt, Mrs. E. B. Davies, has returned to her home in Napier. Mrs. Percy Lawson has gone to live in Wellington, her husband having been accepted for active service. Mrs. Ballard, who has been the guest of Mrs. E. Griffiths, Fitzroy, lias left for Palmerston North, en route for Wellington. ' * * • *
Mrs. Walter Ainbury, and her daughter, Mrs. Percy Stainton, are on a visit to Auckland. * Miss Outfield, who has been visiting ■Auckland, where she was the guest of her sister, Mrs. W. Saxton, has returned. Miss Mace leaves for Auckland next Tuesday, where she will be the guest of Mrs. Cole, Parnell. Miss Clemow (Auckland) is the guest of Miss Hempton. Ven. Archdeacon F. G. Evans and Mrs. Evans leave next Tuesday for Auckland. Miss Pearson, who has been the guest of Mrs. Noel Harding, has returned to Wellington. ' Mesdames Dillon, Carberv and F. Next Saturday, October 20, the Mart will be taken by the soldiers' mothers, wives, and sweethearts, under the management of Mesdames Hugh Baily and Matthews. Mrs. Cecil Gray will have full control of the selling of the flowers, and Miss Whitcombe will manage the ■sweets. On the previous day (Friday, 19th inst.), the Mart will be opened from 3 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 8 p.m. to receive gifts. Will everyone remember that October 20 will be a day of special effort to aid the sick and wounded, and kelp in any way thev can? Sweets, flowers and produce of any kin 3 will be much appreciated.
