HIGH COMMISSIONER'S MARKET REPORT.
The Department of Agriculture, Industries, and Commerce has received the following cablegram, dated London, October 6, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand. (X<>te: Quotations, unless otherwise specified, are average market , prices on spot.):— Meat.—There are small supplies of bonwkilled beef. Home-killed mutton Is in fair supply. Very small supplies of frozen meat released by order of the Government during this week. New Zealand mutton, per lb, B%d, ewe mutton BJd; Argentine mutton ll%d ; New Zealand lamb 10d; Argentine lamb lljd; Patagonian, under Government control, lOd; Argentine chilled beef, hinds ll'/id, fores 9Vid. Butter.—Market continues firm. Danish, New Zealand, Canadian, Irish creamery, and Australian, no quotations owing tb short supply. Total quantity Australian (mutilated word here), September, speedily absorbed. Paris, unsalted, per cwt'., 230s to-2355; Argentine, salted, Bo6s unsalted 2095. Cheese.—Market remains at last reported. New Zealand, States Flats, Australian, and Canadian at Government price; English cheddar, 1375. Hemp.—Trade is quiet under Government control. New Zealand, forward shipment, nothing offering here owing to the absence of Homeward freight. Wheat.—Market quiet at official quotations. Government offerings are very small.
Oats.—More offered, but a small demand. American No. 2, white clipped, 59s 6d.
