Needless to say, this does not represent the true amount, as there is still a good deal "up the sleeve" yet.

A. fairy bower is the best description that can be given of the room in which the business baby committee's poster ball takes place this evening. A stage has now beer, fixed up for the orchestra and Pierotts, and other improvements effected. Given a fine night the floor and the portion of the large room set apart for onlookers should be taxed to its utmost limit. Some new Plymouth visitors last night admitted that everything was quite up to the reports given through these columns, and have promised so to report to the dancers of New Plymouth. The programme of the Labor Day gala is now in hand and will surely meet with approval. A. feature is the' special catering for the school children, and with some GO to 80 from New Plymouth, together with 30 or 40 from Waihi, and a similar, number locally there should be a good day's sport for parents as well as tho youngsters. There will be a football match between the Central school and a combined team from Waihi and Waitara, relay races for tlie schools, tug-of-war for both the juveniles and adults, physical drill of various descriptions by teams of boys and girls, in addition to bicycle and all sorts of races, Bide shows, etc. Refreshments and afternoon tea will be available, whilst the NTew, Plymouth Citizens' Band'will keep our hearts "rejoicing with their soulful music. All the big raffles that have been feeling the public pocket will be drawn on the day, inclusive of the two ponies. All children will be admitted free. In the evening a special programme of pictures has been arranged, and the final sports are to be held on the Camp Reserve. The band will parade at. the bridge at 10.30 a.m. and march to the grounds.
