TIIE FARMERS' CO-OP. REPORT

Opunake yards on Monday we lipid our spring cattle fair, the yarding consisting principally of store cows, yearlings and dnirv heifers. Only a few crown steers came forward. Buyers were in attendance and bidding was brisk. Only two .pens of grown steers remained unsold. We quote: Two to 3;vear steers £ll 5s to £ls Is, good yearling steers £8 2s to £8 Ids, others £5 Ss to £7 10s, fresh conditioned cows £lO 10s to £l2, forward cows £0 to

Stratford yards on Tuesday, there was an average yarding of cattle of all descriptions and a keen demand, more especially, fpr yearlings, which advanced In price on late sales. Eat and forward cows £9 2s to 12gns, light and backward cows £7 3s to £8 Ms, empty heifers £7 6s to £7 18s, yearlings £5 3s to £<S lis, mixed yearlings £3 10s to £6 6s, best dairy heifers £9 to £l4, others £fi to £B, cows £lB to £22.

On Wednesday at Inglewood yards we held our usual fortnightly sale. There was a good yarding of cattle but only a small entry of sheep. The competition for store cattle was good. D&iry heifers and sheep bidding was not so keen, although a good clearance' was made at the hammer. The advertised I-lolstein heifers on account of Mr. Hodge sold from £l3 10s to £l7 15s, the Jersey heifers on account of Mr. .J. F. Young sold from £lO 10s to £l3 los. On account of other owners: Best springing heifers £lO 10s to £l*2, others £6 .10.3 to £0 15s.

Auroa yards on Friday fat cows brought £l3 to £l4 ss, fresh conditioned ccws £lO to £ll 2s, forward cows £9 to '.£9 18s, store cows £7 as to £8 las, aged cows £5 los to £7, yearling heifers £5, £6. Shorthorn bulls sold at £ls, Ayrshire bulls £l4 10s, best springing heifers £l3 to £ls, others £9 to £l2 10s.
