Another pacifist meeting held at the Brotherhood Church (where a riot took place on July 29) resulted in a riot. A large crowd, including several soldiers, pspembled outside and broke through the police cordon protecting the church, howled down the chairman, took posras. sion of the building, and sang the National Anthem and patriotic songs. Someone started a fire beside the pulpit, intending to burn the church, and the crowd rushed out crying "Fire!" The police extinguished the flames, little damage being done.
