WRECK OP THE. SCOW EUNICE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. . Wanganui, Last Night. At the court of inquiry into the wreck of the Eunice, Capt. Holm was held responsible. The following rider was added:—"The court desires to draw the attention of the Minister of Marine to the fact that the roaster of the scow Eunice, .both mates, as well as four members the crew are by birth foreigners, that the second mate at the helm at the time the vessel struck was unnaturalised. While there is no evidence to show the present loss is attributed to any of these causes, the court desires to express the opinion that in view of the vital importance to the community at the present time of all ships and shipping, no British ship should be allowed to be so officered and manned.
The master was ordered to pay £2O towards the cost of the enquiry, his certificate being returned.
