STRATFORD.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) [All communications, letters, etc., left With Mr. H. J. Hopkins, boekseller, will receive prompt attention.] A. AND P. ASSOCIATION.

•Stratford, Oct. 4. The special committees set up to revise the schedule for the forthcoming show have put in some hard work, and the schedule that is to be presented to exhibitors is without doubt the best that has ever been issued by this association. Prize money shows a marked increase. The executive has considered it wise not to reduce the prizes, although the special donation list will not show the same figures as last year. It now behoves members who are loyal to their association to remember that it is impossible to run an institution like the Stratford A. and P. Association without the sinews of war. The canvass of the town has secured a very liberal resnonse, but there is a further need for all the assistance possible, as the membership subscription has been reduced through many members being in the Expeditionary Forces. The horse section has been revised, and should now obviate any necessity of misunderstanding or misinterpretation of tb» numerous classes in these competitions. The cattle section has also had careful consideration. A champion ribbon and gold medal will be awarded for the best dairy cow, any breed, open to pedigree or grade. Friesians have been allotted a gold medal for the most points in their section, providing there are not less than 20 entries. This medal has been presented by the Friesian association. In the grade or crossbred section pedigree cows cannot compete. Classes for the best three cows in milk and best typical dairv heifer will he for grades only. In the boys' judging class an alteration has bjen made, so as to include one each of the following breeds: Jersey. Friesian and Ayrshire. The object of this is that a boy can judge the breed he is most conversant with, and not be confined to onlv one breed.

Sheep classes bavins been rather small in past vears, the prize money ha= been increased considerably, so as to induce more entries. The farmers' butter class has been reinstated. Do?s will he we'l catered for this season. They will be housed in the old produce shed. The New Zealand Kennel Club has allotted the following challenge clas=e r : Irish terriers, field spaniels, old English sbeep dogs, and greyhounds. A workins; bee of country members was held thii morning. During the nex* few weeks the executive will he pleased to have all the assistance it can get in this direction. GENERAL. The gross takings ct the recent concert and dance promoted by the electric light staff of the'borough, were £OB lis 7d. and the expenses £l2 lfls. The halanoe of £.'6 Is 7d has been placed to the credit of the Wounded Soldiers' Fund, per Mr. W. Lander.

The fortnightly sitting of the court here to-morrow should prove interesting, judging bv the amount of police and civil business appearing on the charge sheet.
