HAWERA HOSPITAL.
\ REBUILDING SCHEME.
A special meeting of the Hawera Hospital Hoard was held the other morning tor the purpose of discussing further the question of proceeding with the erection of necessary additions to the hospital in connection with the rebuilding scheme which the Board has had under consideration for some time.
It was agreed, on the motion of Messrs Marx and Winks, to make provision for the .building of the first portion of the infectious fever ward, new nurses' home, and the temporary annexe (at present in course of erection). It waa generally agreed that these buildings, were urgently required, and that they had been forsed upon the 'Board by present circumstances.
The estimated cost of the proposed additions at present proposed to bo gone on with is approximately £IJ,OUO, included cost of furnishing and equipment. As to the question of financing the undertaking, several suggestion were offered. Finally it was decided to hold a conference of .lie Hoard at the next meeting with tlio contributing local bodies to go fully into tlio question. Mr. Winks said tli.it the conference Would be given to understand that the Board intended to go on with the buildings mentioned, and that it would be only concerned with the question of finance. The architect 'is instructed to prepare contact plans Mid sp-eifiativiia ot the additions. He said it would be fully two month* before tenders could be called for (he work.
