MISCELLANEOUS. ■ It was resolved to send a special circular to selectors owing the current halfyear's rent, requesting payment within one month without fail, otherwise further action to be taken; and to warn other selectors in arrear that forfeiture will be decreed and action taken for recovery if the debt is not paid within one month. -Mr. E. Tolme, Crown Lands Ranger, forwarded statutory reports as follows: —Crown Lands: 73 holdings, area 12,505 acres; improvements required £11,691. effected £42,159; one defaulter for improvements and residence, 3 defaulters for improvements, 0 defaulters for residence. National endowment: 10 holdings, area 1076 acres; improvements required £B7O, effected £4597; 2 defaulters for residence.—Received. Mr. E. A. Meredith. Crown Lands Ranger, forwarded the following reports:—Crown lands: 30 holdings, area 14,691 acres; improvements required £8315, effected £14,927; 6 defaulters for improvements, 1 defaulter for residence. National endowment: 21 holdings, area 7722 acres; improvements required £9433, effected £19,510- no defaulters. Land for settlement: One holding, area 121 acres; improvements required £240, effected £022; not in default.—Received. As the lease of E.R. sections 215, 210, New Plymouth (2r. 12p.) will expire on 30th September. 1918, the board appointed Mr. H. F. Russell as arbitrator to assess new rent in terms of the lease. George Reading, lessee of section IS, block V, Tangitu, was granted 12 months exemption from personal residence, as he is about to depart on active service. Sarah Walker, lessee of section 25, block I, Tangitu, was grarited nine months' exemption from residence during the milking season. Fred. Sutcliffe, lessee, of parts sections SO3/SOS, New Plymouth, half an acre, was granted permission to erect a house. F. F. Fraei, holder of agreement to occupy section I,' block I, Tangitu, was granted a lease of the land. It was resolved that section 2, Hock XII, Totoro, 155 a. Ir. 2lp. be opened for discharged soldiers under special tenures. Leslie Jackson, lessee of section SS, Parkes' Settlement, was granted permission to let the grazing to Thomas Bottomiey for six months from Ist October 1917, at £6O, under certain conditions. Mr. Hutchen, solicitor, appeared with Mr. Molone in connection with the application to transfer section 12, block 1, Aria, refused at Land Board meetings held in July and August of this year.— Itj was resolved to take no action. Several applications for remission of rent by soldiers on active service; applications for postponement of collection of rent, and applications by discharged soldier settlers for advances, were considered in committee, and recommendations made in accordance with tile circumstances in each case. The board in committee considered four applications for consent to mortgage at current rates of interest, and these were i agreed to.
