MERCHANTS DEXY PREMIER'S STATEMENT. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. Mr. Massey's statement in Parliament on Tuesday, to the effect that merchantj Were profiting by evory scare as to '■''• shortage of shipping and wore buying butter cheaply, is denied by exporters. They interviewed Mr. Maseey thereon to-day, pointing out that under the arrangement with the Government in j August the exporters' pledged themselves to make no purchase of new season's butter pending the decision of the Gov« eminent aa to its disposal.
