WAIWAKAIHO BULL FAIR.
A LARGE ENTRY. In this issue we publish alterations to Mr. Newton -King's Waiwakaiho Bull Fair, wherein it will be noticed that the catalogue for this fair has closed and that no further entries will be taken. In addition there are some special entries, the particulars of which arc advertised. Lovers of the Jersey breed this year are offered a big selection to choose from, and there are a fine lot o" /pedigree Jerseys to be sold.' The principal entry in this class is on account of Mr. Harper Lepper, who will be yarding a dozen two-year-olds. This breeder's stock is very well known to Taranaki farmers, and this season's draft should meet with good inquiry, In yearling Jersey bulls there is an entry of 23 youngsters, and in this lot fanciers should easily be ablo to obtain their season's wants.
The Holstein entry this year is an exceptionally strong and good one, there being some well-bred animals for sale. Mrs. S. A. Morrow, the Rahotu breoder, is sending forward eleven pedigree bulls and the breeding of these is exceptionally good. The sires are "King Fayne feegis 2nd" (imp.), "Echo ,Sir Inka," 'Hector Payne Segis" and "Dauntless King Nazli." Mr. Harold Street's manager is sending forward three two-year-olds and 'five yearlings, all by that old champion bull "Clifl'side Laddie." This sire is now defunct, and this lot of young bulls will be the last to be offered. Mr. W, D. Linn, of Oakura, is sending along a six-year-old bull, "Parthena Alcartra Pietje," two five-vear-old bulls, -Nazli Alcartra Pietje" and "Alcartra Woodcrest Pietje," also a vearling bull by "Parthena Alcartra Pietje" out ;of "Lady Inka Parthena." The dam of "Parthena Alcartra Pietje" made 0101b of butter-fat when 12 years old, Those wanting a two-year-old'. grade Holstein bull will have a great opportunity, as the grade Holsteins tp be yarded bv Mr. D. F. Greenway are a particularly fine line, specially selected by Mr. Greenway from Holstein breeders down the coast, so that their blood should be well worth introducing into Taranaki dairy herds. These particulars should be sufficient to bring buyers along in strong force on the day of the fair, and it is quite certain that they will not go away disappointed.
The registered Shorthorns advertised are on account of Messrs Tunibull and Son, of Sentry Hi]], and these will be fully described and pedigrees given on the day of the sale. Messrs Topliss, of Motontii, are this year again offering a nice lot of 13-month Shorthorns, and a choice line of well-bred Shorthorns will be that sent forward by Mr. Greenway from the coast, These will all be two-year-old maiden bulls, and several of them were bred by Mr. J. J. Chapman at Tongaporutn. His stock are very •favorably known. The others of this dine are mostly selected from the best, breeders down the coast, and admirers of the Shorthorn breed are invited to come along and inspect this line.
