ENID BENNETT IN A DELIGHTFUIi ! TRIANGLE PLAY, "HAPPINESS." A' sweet and wholesome film, drama was introduced' to a. full house at tho Empire last evening. This was the T,riajigle picture, "Happiness." It is the story of a millionaire's daughter. She is dubbed by a society newspaper "tho prideful daughter of aristocracy's bluest blood." She gives the lie to" that by making a mercenary match with a poor college student who is paying his college bill by washing clothes in his spare time. It is a charming little drama. Miss Enid Bennett as tho charming and ingenuous daughter of the millionaire, is anything, but a snob that tl> society newspaper made her out to be. She has her reputation in this respect to live down at college, and it is here she meets the poor scholar who ha-, to wash for a living. The last act of tho picture is full of delicious humor. Tho talented little Triangle artiste, Miss Thelma Salter, is also seen in the "Soapsuds Trust." The remainder of tho programme is varied and interesting. There ia an uproarious comedy by the Keystone people, a most interesting scenio depicting the cave dwellers of Mexico and :i. particularly atractive number of the latctt "Gazette." BOOTH TARKINCTON'S FAMOUS STORY, "THE CONQUEST OF CANAAN'? AT EVERYBODY'S TONIGHT, ,
| Last week "The Conquest of Canaan" went astray between Gisborne and New Plymouth and arrived too lata for the I advertised screenings. As the picture is at (real first class portrayal the management of Everybody's arranged l to screen it tonight and to-morrow. The story by Booth Tarkington is too widely .known to need repeating, but for tho information of those who havo not read the book "Canaan*' is a villago in France, and tho "Conquest" is performed by a local boy who i s kicked out of tho town as a lad but later returns as a •brilliant lawyer, conquers the feeling against him and incidentally the lovo of the village belle. It has been aptly termed an adventure romance, as both lovo and adventure play prominent parts. Tho supports include ,a five-reel Blue-Bird feature, "The Yaqui," or a '-'Romance of tho Rio Grande," being an adventurous story of the picturesque life and surroundings of Texas and New Mexico along the silvery Rio Grande.
