Word has been received by Mr. Hamblyn, of Tariki, that his son, Private J. E. Hamblyn, who was previously reported missing ,is now believed to have been killed in action. This makes the fourth of the six soldier sons of Mr. Hamblyn who has made the great sacri-. flee. • '
A resolution of sympathy with Mr. 15. Mfirwell, who met with a serious motor accident recently, was passed at yesterday's meeting of the New Plymouth Harbor Board, and sincere "hopes expressea for his speedy recovery. It lias been found that four' of Mr. Maxwell's ribs were broken and his hip injured. He is making steady progress towards Tecov. ery. 1
The Governor-General and Lady Liverpool left Wanganui at noon yesterday to return to Wellington after a short visit to Wanganui, the principal object ol which was the laying of the foundation stone of the Sarjeant Art Gallery, costing about £20,000. Their Excellencies visited the Old Soldiers' Club, the educational institutions, hospitals and other public places. The death occurred on Monday, at his residence, Mount Eden, Auckland, at the age of 53 years, of Lieutenant-Colonel Herbert M'Olelland Inglis, M.8.0.M., N.Z.M.C. Deceased was a native of Christchurch, and took his B.A. degree at Canterbury College. He studied medicine in Scotland, where he took the M.B.C.M. degree at Edinburgh University. Colonel Inglis practised at' Darfield and Cheviot before going to Auckland. He was a member* of the Second District Medical Board. Deceased, is survived by a widow, four sons, and one daughter. -One son iansw atithe front.
