THE BIG PUSH.
The arrangements in connection ■with Saturday's campaign are now complete, and. given a fine day, the results will be big.
The butcher's shop will be one of the special features of the "Day," and the committee, in charge reports a largo stock of prime beef, mutton, lamb, and pork, to say nothing of a large assortment of small goods. The shop will open at 4 p.m. to-day, and again at 7 a.m on Saturday. It will be under the capable direction of Mr. Openshaw, assisted by an expert staff. The Mart has received large donations for the Day, and those wishing to purchase would do well to shop early. Flower and sweet stalls will be prominent throughout the town, and although there seems a scarcity of ttowers locally, owing to it being mid-season now, arrangements have been made for large supplies coming from Auckland,
Afternoon tea will be one of the new features run in order to raise funds. Light "lunches will also be provided.
The rallies committee of the Pierrots will have charge of that important department., as well as a band of parcel sellers. Some 2000 parcels have been provided, all of which are guaranteed value for money.
Those who have kindly given donations are asked to please leave same at the elub this evening or early on Saturday.
SAID OX OMATA. The Big Push Concert Party was again in action on Wednesday night, when its members made a raid on Omata. A varied and much appreciated programme, consisting of vocal and instruental items, was rendered in the hall, which was well filled by residents of the district and many New Plymouth people who motored out to the scene of operations. Vocal items were contributed by Misses Bennett, White, Cocker, Messrs Collier, Kllcrm and Howell, duets by Misses Cocker and Bennett, and Miss Bennett and Mr. Ellerm, and Mr. Gadd played two banjo solos. During the evening the vice-president of the association, Mr. N. Howell, outlined the objects of the association, and the grounds on which the returned soldiers were making their appeal for funds. As the result of his direct appeal for donations £2O was subscribed, whilst a basketful of beautiful violets donated by Mrs. A. E. Walker realised £2 10s.
Altogether the evening was 4 most enjoyable and successful one.
