HOCKEY.
A very even and extremely interring match was played between teams representing the New -Plymouth Girla' High School and the Hawera Technical School, on the grounds of the former, Mangorei road. ' The result wrb a_ win for the New Plymouth girls by 2 goate t$ 1, but so good and fast was the play on both sides that their opponents, though defeated, were far from being disgrace?!. The Hawera baeks ive're conspicuously good, and the all-round brilliant play frequently evoked euthusiasti demonstrations from the numerous spectators. The goals for the New Plymouth girls were scored by. Hiss Florence Evans and Miss Fairbrolher. A Hawera gent' wan officiated as referee.
