SPORTING.

AUSTRALIAN TURF. Australian-New Zealand Cable 'Assn, Sydney. Sept. 10. Tressida has been scratched for the Epsom and Metropolitan Handicaps. TURF TOPICS. (By "Moturoa.") Ashlmrton races to-day. Otaki on Monday next. Fiery Cross is "hot orange" at Ashburton. 0. Young will ride Master Moutoa next week. Alteration and Glenroy are unlikely starters at Otaki.

San Sebastian has only to reproduce Trentham form to have a show at Ashburton.

Minesweeper, who showed a lot of pace at National time, will be well supported to-day. The touts will have nothing but Sleight of Hand for the big race at Otaki, but they might be wrong. Killjoy has been coupled with Fiery Cross and others for the Ashlmrton double, but Charley (7.7) looks a far better proposition on paper. Biplane must have made a good recovery from his recent accident, and, all being well, the Comedy King colt should add further to his laurels on the other side.

The Flying Handicap at Otaki is one that is giving punters a touch of brain fag. Chakwana, Sweet Tipperary, Crowhurst, Waimatoa, and others ar€ all fancied, but it seems a shame what would happen if the top-weight was reallv at her best.

Analogue is reported to be a much improved horse this year, and big hopes are expressed of his ability to win in the best company shortly. Last year he was rather unlucky, his sixteen starts producing two firsts, five seconds, and two thirds.
