WESTERN ATTACK.
GERMANY AND BELGIUM.
CLAIMS NOT ABANDONED. Received Sept. 19, 5.5 p.m. Amsterdam, Sept. 18. The Koelnische Volks Zeitung officially denies that Germany is abandoning her claims to Belgium, which were not mentioned in the reply to the Papal Note. Germany has no intention of entering into details after Germany*u experiences in the present war and the knowledge gained of Belgian diplomacy, GREAT ARTILLERYING. BRITISH POSITION SLIGHTLY IMPROVED. Received Sept. 19, 'B.IO p.m. London, Sept. Id. Sir Douglas Haig reports: We improved our positions slightly eastward of St. Julien. There was great reciprocal artillerying in the Ypres sector. Three German aeroplanes were downed, there being only a few enemy machines in the air. A French communique records lively artillerying in various sectors. GERMAN AERODROMES IN FLANDERS. ELABORATE CONSTRUCTION SCHEME. ALLIES' SUCCESSFUL RAIDS Received Sept. 19,11.55 p.m. Amsterdam, Sept. 18. The Germans are constructing aerodromes throughout Flanders, particularly large ones at Denin and Wes'ran. The Allies continued raids with good results, several military trains being hit in the last raid, including a munition train, which exploded, there being many victims. I PATROL ENCOUNTERS. London, Sept. 19. Sir Douglas Haig reports:—There were only patrol encounters in the Ypres section. A CONSULATE WRECKED. Washington, Sept. 18. The United States consular building at Dunkirk was wrecked by a German bomb on September 7. EFFECT OF BOMB AT ROOLERS. . Amsterdam, Sept. 18. I The Naestricht newspaper states that during an aerial raid on Routers in the middle of August a bomb fell on a large building occupied by German soldiers and killed and wounded 900. FRENCH REPULSE ATACK. London, Sept. 18. A French communique says: After a violent bombardment south of Lainiette the enemy entered our advanced i trenches, but were completely repulsed.
