DISTRICT NEWS.

MOKAU. HARBOR BOARD LEGISLATION. (From Our Own Correspondent.)' A special meeting of the Harbor Board was held on the loth inst. to consider the draft of fresh legislation bearing on the clearance of the river. It was resolved that the proposed amendment to section 80 of the Reserves and Other Lands Disposal, and Public Bodies Empowering Act, 1916, submitted by Mr. C. A. Loughnan, be approved, and titt Mr. Loughnan be authorised to represent the Board in all matters connected with the proposed amendment through the House of Representatives, and with the negotiations between the Board and. the Minister of Marine.

The secretary was directed to ask 'Mr. Loughnan to urge upon the Minister of Marine the inclusion of the draft submitted in the Washing Up Bill, and later its passage through the House, as the Board was of opinion it waS" absolutely necessary that all preliminaries in regard to the clearance of the river should be facilitated as much as possible, so that the work 'might be put in hand at the beginning of the summer.
