PATRIOTIC WORK.

The Mayoress asks soldiers' friends who are donating articles for the street stalls on Big Push Day to please leave same at patriotic depot as soon as possible, for marking and sorting. The following gifts fqr Taranaki soldiers on troopships have been forwarded by the Women's Patriotic Committee to Wellington per rail ( Cl 5 is voted each month from the Men's Patriotic Committee to help with these gifts): No. 1 ease: 1 gramaphone and records, writing paper and envelopes. No. 2 case: 1 set boxing gloves, 1 strike ball, 7 pairs shoes, 1 tin ginger nuts, 2 tins brandy balls, 1 dozen small salmon, 1 dozen sardines. Specially marked for troopship hospital: 17 j /;1d arrowroot, quarter dozen G. and S. fruits, half dozen pineapple, 1 dozen fruit in jelly.

The New Plymouth iPatriotu: Committee has forwarded tins mouth lo Wellington, care of Y.M.C.A., 20 cases gift parcels for France, containing 53S parcels; also 10 cans of Christmas cake, olb tins sugar, 14 cans sweets, cocoa and currie powder; K cases gift parcels for Egypt, 1 case Christmas gifts from Kahotu, 1 case gifts for New Zealand Stationary Hospital.

Mrs Burgess wishes to thank tlie many willing workers who helped with the packing of these gifts, especially Mr, Coppen, who gave an evening at the depot with his soldering plant, and sealed up all the cake tins, etc.
