RUMORED INCREASE OJF TlOtt' ALLOWANCE. ' By Wire.—Our Parliamentary Reporter. Wellington, Last Night.
It is reported that one of the features of the provision for dependents of %hi Second Division men will be an increase of tho wife's separation allowance tc. something in the neighborhood of fcSs per week. The present allowance is 7s and if this were the sole alteration made in the scale, a man with two childrtn would be able to leave his family In possession of an income of £2 10s 6d per week, made up as'follows: Soldier's allotment 21s, wife's separation allowance 255, children's allotments (two at 6s 3d) 10s Bd. ' • ; MEETING AT TABATA. A well-attended meeting of Was held at Tarata last evening to form a branch of the Second Division League, Representatives were present from tie Inglewood and New Plymouth branches, i who fully explained'the aims and objects and work of the League, and at tho conclusion it was unanimously decided I to establish a, sub-branch, the following officers being elected: —Chairman, Mr. J. j Lynch j hon. secretary, Mr. M. Standish; committee, Messrs E. Morey, A; Painter, and J. Simmonds. v Mr. J. Lynch presided, and the speakers were: Messrs Patterson, Spurdle, Young and De Launay (Inglewood), and T. C. List and A. C. Downs (New Plymouth). The visitors were afterwards entertained to supper by Mrs. M. Standish.
