MARY PICKFORD.
Sir,—l would like to correct a statement erroneously printed in one of the Taranaki papers wherein it Was stated: "It was the Famous Players' Company that was responsible for bringing out the greatest favorite the motion picture screen has to-day, Mary Pickford." This statement is far from correct, as Miss Pickford was even more popular than she is to-day More the Famous Players' Company came into existence. Her first appearance was with the old American Biograph Company, and when first appearing with that company she was known to many admirers as Dorothy Nicholson. It was after leaving this company and joining the Majestic Company that her right name of Mary Pickford became public. After a period with the Majestic Miss Pickford joined the "Imp" Company and appeared in a number of that company's productions before joining the then 1 newly formed Famous Flayers' Company. 'The majority of your readers with any knowledge of motion pictures will readily remember Miss Pickford many years before her first picture with the Famous Players, which was entitled "In the Bislion'a Carriage." As a drawing card Miss 'Pickford is now a long way down on the list of popular star artists.—l am, etc., PICTURES PATKON.
