A Melbourne , cable reports the Saatto of Dr. Salmon, a raeniber of the House of Representatives. Mr. Thos. T. Hugo, Government Inspector of Fire Brigades, will inspect the local brigade to-morrow (Wednesday) evening. . ' Mr. T, Harland, driver of the New Plymouth-Opunake mail car, who met with an accident a fortnight ago on the Goat Valley gorge, near Kai Iwi, died in the Wanganui hospital yesterday. Captain Spratt, of Bawera, will re< present the Defence Department at the forthcoming sitting of the No. 2 Mili> tary Service Appeal Board, in place o| Captain Calvert, at Napier. The condition ,of Mr. E. Maxwell, who was injured in a motor accident near Okato, on Friday, is improving. The extent of his injuries is not known, the medical staff not yet being able to X-ray him. The only Tarnnaki name in the casualty list issued in Wellington on Saturday is that of James Edward Hamblyn (C. J. Hamblyn, Tariki, father), who was previously reported wounded and is now reported wounded and missing. Advice was received in New Plymouth 011 Saturday that Sergeant William A, Guild, whose parents reside at Pungarchu, is "missing." Sergeant Guild is an old boy of the New Plymouth High School, and afterwards joined the local branch of the Bank of New South Wales. Ho is .well remembered for his cheery and sympathetic nature, which eirdeared him to a large number of friends. He sailed from New Zealand about the middle of last i-eajs,
