THE TRICKS OF THE HUNS.

There are tricks to all trade?, and Germany knows most of them. A correspondent of a Boston paper gives these instances of Teuton "sHmness": —At one time when tho Allies were pounding at the Dardanelles forts Turkey was short of gunpowder. The Central Powers had not invaded -Serbia, and the only railroad route from Essen to Constantinople was via Roumania. But the Roumanian Government prohibited the transportation of war munitions over its railways. Germany obtained permission to send cement 'blocks to Turkey—until Iloumania discovered that withjn each block was a big shell! Then, for some reason, there was an unusual amount of Bavarian beer being shipped to Turkey. It was presumed that the Germans were preparing their drive towards the Suez Canal, and that this wfis one of the ■preliminary steps. Trainloads of beer kegs rolled over the Roumanian lines, until one night there was a big explosion in one of the yards. Four thirsty Roumanians were boring a hole into one of the kegs, when it exploded, killing three and wounding the fourth man. An investigation by tho Roumanian Government showed that Bavarian beer kegs Were filled with Prussian powder. Devices of this kind the Teutons are trying in every country in an attempt to get food and war material, and only the most careful watching will stop them.
