The hearing of the charges against iPitzgerald and Mc-Williams, of attempting to defraud Henry Martindale and zithers of £t>7u, and conspiring to dcifraud, was continued l:iis afternoon, and resulted in both the accused "being committed for trial. Bail in the sum of .£'loo and two sureties of £3O was allowed in each case. ! SEMPLE RELEASED. Christehurch, Sept. l-i. Robert Semple was released from Lvttelton Gaol this morning. He wa* met by a small party of Labor sympathisers. A large crowd of watersiders wait»d at the railway gate, but there was no dauionstration.
