ENEMY GAIN FOOTHOLD.

Washington, Sept. 11. Advices received at the Italian Embassy state that Turkish troops are assisting the Auatrians against the Italians. PAPAL FORECAST OF PEACE Rome, Sept. 11. The Popo is optimistic that peace negotiations will be begun before Christmas and that the war will end at the New Year or in the spring. His optimism is based on the hope that the Central Powers, in replying to the Pope's Xote, will outline precise ipeaee condition! acceptable to the Entente.
