ELTHAM.

(Prom Our Own Correspondent). September 11. That the Daily News is well read has been proved frequently. At present I feel a little flattered and for thi 3 reason, fn one of my recent letters mention was made that Mr. Nicholas Muir had forwarded three £1 war certificates to the Wounded Soldiers' .Fund. In writing these up I mentioned "that Mr. Grimstone, treasurer, is prepared to accept any number of these donations." This evidently appealed to some anomymous reader who cut the clipping out of the News with the words quoted, and at the end of the word donations was added: "Hero you aro then," accompanied by a gift of seven £1 war certificates issued last year. I don't mind writing any number of pars, that would secure this result. I am given to understand that there is d probability of "a school committees' association being formed with Elt'nam as headquarters. There must he at least 10 schools within 10 miles or so of Eltham, and if these form an association should be able to do good work. At present Eltham is attached to Hawera. Judging by applications received by the Eltham Dairy Company there appears to be no difficulty in obtaining secretaries if the salary is made worth while. Some accountants well-known in tho district have made application. Mr. H. Barnard, who has filled the position for 12 years, finishes up this month.
