RAILWAY OFFICERS' VIEWS. Dunedin, Sept. 5. The Railway Officers' Conference passed a motion endorsing the action of the Grand Council of State Servants in representations to the Government regardin™ a reduction in the cost of living, and requesting tho eoimcil to urge on the Government the necessity of making a prompt and practical effort to reduce the price of necessary household commodities. The conference considered that a3 wages are arbitrarily fixed, prices also could bo arbitrarily fixed, and decided If the Government failed to reduce the cost of living to a degree commensurate with the wage-earners' decreased spendingpower, it would ufc its best endeavors to obtain an increase in the salaries of lower paid members.
