INGLEWOOD.
"ON THE WAR-PATH." (From a Correspondent.) As Saturday, Bth inst., was found to bo an "off" date in Inglewood so far as any of the ladies' patriotic committees were concerned, Mr. Newton King's staff decided to see what they could do to raise funds for "Our Boys" comforts under the Red Cross banner. To decide was to act, and with characteristic energy, backed by their well-earned popularity, success was assured from the start, but even better results have been obtained than the most hopeful, anticipated. Gifts of all kinds and from unexpected quarters have come to hand, so that a busy time is looked forward to for Saturday. The whole front showroom of Mr. King's mart will 'be given up to the Red Cross for the day, and nearly every kind of produce-will be there for sale. Guessing competitions will he provided, in which such varying things as pigs, cakes, and sheep take pride of place. Sales by ticket of donations include a pure-bred Jersey bull calf, good gig pony, ham, sheep, and cake. If any balance is left unsold at the end of the day it will bo sold by auction between 7 and S p.m., at which time, too, the results of the ticket sales will be given out. The staff is on the ivar-path to make a record, and faith they'll "do it.
