SAN CABRIELLE CAPTURED. IMPORTANT KEY POSITION. Received Sept. G, 1,50 a.m. London. Sept. 5. News has been received in London that the Italians have captured Monte San Gabrielle. CADORNA'S GENERALSHIP. NOT CAUGHT NAPPING. Rome, Sept. 4. The Corricre della Sera states that several thousand Austrians concealed in caverns on the Carso plateau were instructed to remain until tat Italians reached the third and loorih Austrian lines, and then emerge and attack, in the rear, catching the Italians between two fires. General Cadorna. foreseeing the danger, held another force in readiness to assail the emerging Austrians. This plan was successful, several entire Austrian battalions being taken prisoner, A letter found on a prisoner describes the- terrible scarcity of food and clothing in Trieste. There is no oil, rice, potatoes, sugar or coffee and very little meat. The people are dying of starvation. POLA HARBOR BOMBED. DESTRUCTIVE FIRES CAUSED. Aus. and N.Z. Cable Assoc, and Reuter. Received Sept. ,">. 5.5 p.m. London, Sept. 4. An Italian official mesage states: A squadron of aeroplanes bombed military works and the ileet at Pola harbor and Fasana canal, causing destructive fires.
