STX O'CLOCK CLOSING. By Tclegrapij.—TVess Association. Wanganui, Sept. 3. Mr. L. M. Isitb addressed an overflowing audience in the Opera House to-night At the conclusion a resolution was carried emphatically reaffirming the demand for six o'clock closing for the sale of liquor or absolute minimum of reform, and refusing to consider any later hour, such as seven o'clock. The meeting demanded a referendum on the question of national prohibition. MORE EQUITABLE TAXATION WANTED. Wellington, 'Sept. 4. A meeting of ;business»men representative of nil parts of the Dominion wna held to-day- at the invitation of the Wellington Chamber of Commerce. Mr. F. W. Mauton, President of the Chamber presided. The chairman said that the meeting was called, not to have the proposed taxation reduced, but so that it should bo put. on a more equitable basis. Delegates were appointed and conferred later under the auspices of the New Zealand Association of Chambers of Commerce to draft proposals to put beforo the Minister of finance this evening.
