ON GREYMOUTE BAR. By Telegraph.—Press Associalioa. Greyniouth, Sept. 4, The steamer Opouri ran ashore at 11.30 last night on attempting to make port. She was purchased six years ago by the company, brought out from England, and has been engaged in the Lyttelton—West Coast trade practically ever since. She usually loaded timber from Greyniouth to Lyttelton, returning to the coast with a cargo, of general merchandise. Captain E. a. Cox is in charge of the Apouri, the chief officer is T. May-Smith, and the.second officer J. Mackenzie. She carries'* crew, of thirteen. Her hull is insured with the Batavia Insurance Company, Sydney. Two directors of the company and Captain Colona (Lloyd's representative) left in a motor-car at noon to-day for Greymouth. The Opouri carried 240 tons of genera.) cargo for Greyinouth and Hokti tiki.
