WE3TRALIAN AGENT-GENERAL. ENTERTAINED. Received Aug. .11, 5.5 p.m. Ottawa, Aug. SO. Mr. Connoily, Agent-General for Wes--tralia. was entertained by the Canadian Club at Vancouver. In the course of his speech he said the referendum was the best way to decide any bitterly eontested issue such as conscription, in consequence of liability to misrepresentation. The British war effort had now reached a condition of balance, where the war needs the entire nation to meet it harmoniously.
