A RAPID ADVANCE. ITALIAN VICTORY STILL UNFINISHED. Received Aug. 31. f1.50 pm. Rome, Aug. 31. Julius Price, official correspondent, says the adva ce lias given the Italians possession of ninety-three milts of splendid country, including the strongest, portion, of the Austrian line on the middle tsonzo. Already a great number of guns and a vast amount of material have been captured. The prisoners in the enclosures total over two divisions. The important fact is that the victory is still unfinished. The Italians are advancing with amazing rapidity, military highways being constructed with lightning speed. Guns, 'water, and ammunition are being pushed forward over the Bainsizza plateau. German newspapers assert that General von Hindenburg at the War Council Urged that the plateau was untenable, but General Conrad insisted upon the necessity of holding it at ail costs, as it commanded the strategic line between tie Tolmino and Gorizia. SEVEN DAYS' FIGHTING. TURNING POINT OF WAR. j ITALIAN SUPERIORITY UNDOUBTED EFFECT OP BOMBARDMENT. Received Aug. 31, 5.C p.m. Lon-'on, Aug. 30. In the seven days' fighting the Italians conquered four defensive systems. Such was the violence of the Italian bombardment on tho Bainsizza plateau that it reduced Chiapovano to a heap of ruins. It is believed that. 13,000 were wounded and in hospital at Libiani. general Cadorna, in an interview, stated: '"I can say that our present operations are of the most important in tho war, because of the vast objectives, the daring methods, and the probable effects on military morale. Our superiority is. undoubted, and our imminent decisive euccesa meani the turning point of the war." ENEMY ATTACKS FAIL. ITALIANS ADVANCE. London, Aug. 30. Italian official: We drive back strong counter-attacks which iradc efforts to re-take positions o?i the BAii:sls;-.a Plateau. Eastward of Gorisia we maintained our positions and advanced at some points. An enemy attack between the Vippaco and Dossofaiz failed. We repulsed three attacks in the Traven. anzes Valley.
