DAMAGES FOR SLANDER, By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, August 30. The slander case, Isabel and Gladys Davey against Arthur Waldemar Scliaef, a. 'laim for £IOSO damages, has been concluded in the Supreme Court. A verdict was deturned for £625. It was alleged that Sehaef, while plaintiffs were n.i tenants, made statements imputing unehastitv to them. , A GENERAL ELECTION. Dunedin, August 30. The Dunedin executive of the National Welfare Association adopted a resolution viewing with satisfaction the Prime Minister's expressed willingness to hold a general election at the usual time, and, to that end, hopes that the Government will support Mr. Witty. All individual members of Parliament are being circularised to support the Bill.
