QUESTIONS IX PARLIAMENT. Mr. W. IT. Field has given notice in the House of Representatives to ask the Minister of Industries and Coin(1) Whether the Board of Trade has yet enquired into the reason why bacon is being retiled iu Wellington at Is 3d to Is Od per pound, whereas farmers aro understood to be receiving not more that Od per pound for their baeoner pigs, and at the same time relinquishing all by-products (2) Whether the attention of the Board of Trade hag been drawn to a pamphlet issued by a co-operative bacon company in which appears a statement made by a director of the company indicating that one of the the objects of the company is to limit the supply of bacon on the Xew Zealand market to a quantity which may be considered sufficient for that market, and to ship the surplus green to England? (3) Whether there is not danger of such a policy having the ell'eet of lowering the price of pigs to farmers and prejudicially affecting those who are not shareholders of the company, and of increasing" the price of Iwcoii to consumers, thus following to some extentdoubtless, unintentionally—the methods employed by the American Meat Trust? (4) Whether this matter is not one requiring investigation bv the Board of Trade?
