The Minister in charge of munitions and supplies, approached by a reporter in regard to the gazetted amendment to the coal trade stated that the Government had decided it was necessary to assume that tlie supplies would bo available within the Dominion at an early date. To give effect to this decision he is now empowered under the coal trade regulations to define coal trade districts and to appoint local coal trade committees, to be subject to bis direction and control of supplies of coal within such districts.' At present the work of defining districts and appointing committees is in hand, and will, it is hoped, be sufficiently far adyanccd for further action to. be taken iprbbably next 'week.
