RELEASE OF RAILWAYMEN. By Telegraph—Press Association Wellington. Aug. 27. At the Military Se.rvics Board, Mr. MoVilly stated that arrangements had been nrndo for the release of an additional 137 men. which cleared up the 400 drawn in the first railway ballot. The { department did not ask for any further i delay in these cases. Each man would be notified that he had the right of personal appeal The total appealed for by the department since November. 1915, was 1285. Of these 509 had been dismissed, including the first 400 in the railway ballot, and 52 withdrawn; in 215 cases no appeals 'were lodged, and in ndditi.n 210 men who enlisted voluntarily bad been granted leave. It would be seen that 988 men had left the service since November, 19HJ. The chairman of rJhe Board thought the figures should be published. The Board dismissed the 137 appeals before it. with the provision that persoml appeals should be lodged within seven days. Destructive bacteria gather round the teeth, and cause a lot of trouble.
