MOEAU. (From our own Correspondent.) A meeting of the Mokau Patriotic Committee was held on August 15th, Mr. It. Maine being in the chain There were ftlso present Messrs A. O. Sampson, S. .Whitehead, H. Smith, J. Ten-ill, J. h. Mac Donald. The treasurer reported having received irom Mr. -Horace Ennis, on behalf of the Moliakatino station, a donation of £4 ss, to be allocated at tho discretion of the Mokau Patriotic Committee. Thanks are to be accorded Mr. Ennis for his untiring efforts to augment the Patriotic Fund. Correspondence was dealt with regarding ti baby contest to be inaugurated by North Taranaki Patriotic League. It was resolved to support the movement. It was decided that the chairman arrange for music for patriotic dances. That the offer made by local ladies to organise a cap and apron dance, to be held on the night of the Ist September, he gratefully accepted. This dance will take the place of an ordinary Patriotic dance, but its object will be the same. A meeting of tho Mokau school committee Sook place on the 15th inst. The secretary was instructed to write to the Board explaining that as Mokau avid Awakino schools are now both full time schools, it would he better in future if capitation grants were paid each cornmittep separately. Tuo notice of tho inspector of nuisances is to fte drawn to the fact of a dead horse having been d-umped over a cliff in proximity to tho schoolhonse, and asking him to direct the owner to 'bury it.
