THE EMPIRE.
TO-NIGHT—A FAMOUS BOOK FILMED. "The Widow Lerouge" a famous story by the great French author, Emilo Gaboriau, done in five, powerful reels by the.Fox Company, is the outstanding star attraction of to-night's splendidly compiled programme at the popular Empire Theatre, The book lias been widely read and its merits are well known. The ■strength of the story compiled by such a master hand would in itself be sullicient to sustain keen interest in the ■production even if the adaptation for the screen had only been moderately well done. We are assured however, that the Fo.v Company fully realised the importance of the work, and gave it special attention and a special cast of all good players, with the result that the pictured version of Gaboriau's fascinating and fanciful narrative, is said to leave a stronger and more lasting impression than did the remarkably clever work it illustrates. The advent of "The Widow Lerouge" cannot fail to interest all lovers of good fiction in motion picture form. A choice array of supporting subjects will also be screened.
